    Must-try hiking spots in Connecticut this spring

    (WTNH) – As the weather gets warmer, many people are itching to spend some time outside, so you should take advantage of the many hiking trails across the state!

    Whether you’re looking for an easy trail that you can get through quickly or would like to spend some time exploring, there is a trail out there for everyone.

    Here are some of the top trails in Connecticut, according to AllTrails.

    Chauncey Peak Trail

    Location: Meriden
    Difficulty: Moderate
    Length: 2.3 miles

    This popular hiking spot is perfect for those who would like to explore new areas. Besides being a great spot for hiking during the warm months, people also visit the area for snowshoeing in the winter.

    Ragged Mountain Blue and Red Blazed Loop

    Location: Berlin
    Difficulty: Moderate
    Length: 5.6 miles

    This trail is open year-round and offers breathtaking views of the Wassel Reservoir. The blue and red loops tend to be a little more rocky but they feature rock formations and a waterfall.

    Sleeping Giant Tower Trail

    Location: Hamden
    Difficulty: Easy
    Length: 3.1 miles

    Being the most popular trail in Sleeping Giant, the tower trail is kid-friendly and is perfect if you want to bring your furry friend along.

    Bear Mountain Trail

    Location: Salisbury
    Difficulty: Hard
    Length: 6.1 miles

    This trail is perfect for those who would like to go backpacking, birding or camping. Although it can be steep and rocky in some sections, it is known for having great views from the top.

    Wadsworth Falls Loop

    Location: Middletown
    Difficulty: Easy
    Length: 3.6 miles

    The trail offers a great opportunity to enjoy a family-friendly hike. It is well-marked with color blazes and offers beautiful sights of waterfalls.

    Bluff Point State Park and Coastal Reserve Trail

    Location: Groton
    Difficulty: Easy
    Length: 3.6 miles

    The best time to visit this trail is March through October and offers many optional spur trails that hikers can explore that show views of the ocean.

    Zoar River Trail

    Location: Newtown
    Difficulty: Moderate
    Length: 3.6 miles

    If you are looking for a trail that doesn’t get a lot of foot traffic, then the Zoar River Trail is for you. The trail offers a peaceful experience and offers scenic views.

    Natchaug Trail

    Location: Ashford
    Difficulty: Hard
    Length: 17.5 miles

    This is a great trail option for those who are looking for a longer adventure! During your hike, you’ll be able to see many brooks and ponds as well as explore the forest.

    Mirror Lake, Castle Craig, Merimere Reservoir Loop

    Location: Meriden
    Difficulty: Hard
    Length: 4.4 miles

    Although it is considered to be a challenging trail, this loop is popular among many people in Connecticut. Hikers will also have a chance to enjoy a picnic with some available tables near the Mirror Loop.

    Roxbury Mines

    Location: Roxbury
    Difficulty: Moderate
    Length: 3.4 miles

    This trail is well-defined and easy to follow, making it a great destination for hiking with the family. For those interested in history, there are also informational signs in place that explain the history of the site.
