BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – Officials with Bridgeport’s Emergency Communications Center say they’re working with a gas company to determine the cause of an odor of gas affecting several streets Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., officials announced calls were received reporting the odor on several streets across the city.

The Bridgeport Fire Department is on scene “throughout the city,” according to officials.

Around 3 p.m., officials said the odor is deemed to be non-life threatening at this time.

People are asked not to call 911 about the odor unless there is a medical emergency or someone is experiencing symptoms, as emergency communications and operations centers are already aware of the issue.
