DALLAS ( KDAF ) – Baskin-Robbins is giving away free ice cream — if you’re willing to tell a little white lie.

On Wednesday, participating Baskin-Robbins shops across America will be offering what the company calls “Melt Insurance,” which, as Baskin-Robbins explains, is a promotion allowing customers to redeem a free scoop of Baskin-Robbins ice cream in the event that a previous ice cream experience ended in a melty mess.

But here’s the thing: Baskin-Robbins is requiring “no proof of melt,” meaning anyone can order up a frosty treat if they fib.

What is blue moon ice cream supposed to taste like? It depends

Still a bit hesitant? Don’t worry: Baskin-Robbins is officially sanctioning your deceitful behavior.

“Whether your ice cream succumbs to the summer heat or not, Baskin-Robbins is here to prevent a complete meltdown with this refreshing offer,” a representative for the company wrote in an emailed press release.

Folks wishing to take advantage of Wednesday’s promotion must first download the Baskin-Robbins app and order a single scoop for pickup using the cold “MELT” at checkout. The deal is not valid for in-store or delivery orders.

Waffle cones, sundaes, and toppings also aren’t covered under “Melt Insurance,” so you’ll need to pay a bit extra for those. Wednesday’s deal can’t be combined with any other offers, either.

What is an ice cream ‘squround’?

More information , along with a list of Baskin-Robbins locations, can be found on the official Baskin-Robbins website.
