MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — Registration for the 88th Manchester Road Race is right around the corner!

Race officials Friday announced registration would open on Sept. 1 for the Thanksgiving Day race which attracts tens of thousands of runners each year.

    Manchester Road Race… shrinks?

The entry fee for runners who sign up online before midnight on Oct. 1 is $32. After that, the fee is $37 through Nov. 23 and $42 through race day. The entry fee for the virtual option is $30.

The Manchester Road Race is one of the largest and most popular turkey trots in the country. It’s a 4.737-mile loop that starts and ends in front of St. James Church on Main Street.

“We are eagerly looking forward to Thanksgiving Day and another fantastic road race,” Dr. Tris Carta, president of the Manchester Road Race Committee, said in a statement. “We anticipate that we’re going to have another large field that will include some of the best distance runners in the world, and we are urging everyone to register as early as possible.”

Thanksgiving is on Nov. 28 this year. Last year, race officials said 11,060 runners registered.
