CHICAGO (WTNH) — Former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin shared his thoughts and support for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris ahead of this week’s Democratic National Convention.

Harris, who currently serves as vice president of the United States, was endorsed by President Joe Biden on July 21 after he withdrew from the 2024 presidential race.

Here’s who’s speaking at the Democratic National Convention

There are many changes and policies Harris plans to implement if she wins this year’s election such as lowering costs. Some of those changes include a federal ban on the price gouging of groceries, a $6,000 Child Tax Credit for families with newborns, decreased cost of prescribed medications, new and affordable housing units, and many more cost-saving initiatives that will lessen the burden for many families and homebuyers in the country.

Bronin, a Democrat, appeared on NewsNation’s Good Morning in America on Saturday morning.

“Vice President Harris spoke to the issues that are on the minds of most Americans… how do you address the basic cost of living issues that people are facing?” said Bronin. “Harris signaled very clearly that this is going to be an intense focus for her. She laid out specific plans for continuing to tackle those cost of living issues that people face.”

In response to Harris’ plans, Connecticut Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding (R) responded to Bronin’s interview.

“When it comes down to inflation and controlling costs, the Democrats can look at their own policies that they have supported that have driven up prices exponentially,” Harding told News 8 on Saturday.
