OXFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Three neighbors had a hard time getting home Sunday night when floods swept through Oxford.

“We were driving around for three to four hours trying to get as close as we possibly could,” Jim Wandishion said.

He was at the movies with his neighbors, Kraig and Sawyer Eades, when the storms hit.

“The movie got out, and then it was just mayhem,” Kraig Eades said. “We were down in Southbury Cinema and everything was flooded. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

They tried to get home, were stopped by floodwater and had to park in a nearby cul-de-sac.

“There was just monstrous rivers just flooding the road,” Sawyer Eades said. “It was extremely hard to get through.”

They ended up walking home. Their houses were undamaged. The road, however, was filled with rocks and debris.
