HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Some Hartford students received free backpacks Tuesday during a back-so-school event at Dunkin Park.

Organizers hoped that it would be about so much more than school supplies.

“Maybe they need resources, so we have partners that have their tables around offering resources, maybe you just need before-school care, or after-school care, so they are all around,” said Viviana Alvarado, the partnerships and community schools manager for Hartford Public Schools. “It really is a community event.”
