    82-year-old killed in crash that closed Long Hill Road along Route 80 in Guilford

    GUILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — One woman died and another person was injured in a crash near Long Hill Rd. along Route 80 Saturday morning, according to the Guilford Police Department.

    The crash was reported at 11:45 a.m. and involved two vehicles. Police arrived at the 1600 block of Rt. 80 to find two people that had been injured in the crash.

    Guilford Fire Department provided medical attention on the scene. Both people were transported to a hospital where one, an 82-year-old woman, succumb to her injuries. Her name is being withheld until authorities can notify the family.

    Guilford police closed Long Hill Rd. near the North Branford town line while the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit investigated the cause of the crash.

    The North Branford Police Department is assisting with this crash and drivers were asked to seek alternate routes by using Rt. 1 or County Rd. to avoid the crash site. At 2:00 p.m. the area was reopened to traffic.
