HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Some Hartford Public School students will start heading back to class this morning

They’re considered to be the students in “transitional” grades, which are Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade.

High school students get to sleep in another day.

Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez is the superintendent of Hartford Public Schools.

She said the State Board of Education is taking action to ensure the stability of fiscal operations in the district this year.

Under a new three-pronged approach, the board says it plans to optimize the funding for magnet schools, enhance special education services, and improve the district’s financial systems.

Hartford Public Schools officials said they’re ready to collaborate with the State Department of Education to ensure students get what they need.

For high school’s starting at school tomorrow, here are some things they should know before heading back to class:

    • Connect with your school and confirm enrollment
    • Update your contact info
    • Book medical appointments
    • Send medical records
    • Get supplies & uniforms
    • Check transportation guidelines
