HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — State leaders announced $876,000 in federal funding to train more than 100 young adults for infrastructure industries.

Capital Workforce Partners’ On-ramps to Infrastructure (O2I) for Young Adults program will train 105 young adults in construction, manufacturing and transportation.

“They want back in,” U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said. “They want the pathway to be able to get one of these good paying jobs in manufacturing, in infrastructure, but they need a little bit of extra help. This is not just the job training program. They need some wraparound services, and they need some help to keep them in that training program.”

It’s a multi-year, year-round training program that supports people from underserved communities and those underrepresented in the infrastructure industry through training and employment-related services.
