WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Willimantic police Wednesday said charges are expected after two men were accused of kidnapping a woman, who was found safe not long after.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 2:45 p.m. reporting an adult female was being abducted by two male suspects at the Chuckey’s Gas Station, located at the intersection of Ash and Jackson streets.

The caller said the suspects assaulted the female and were leaving the scene with her in a black vehicle. They were able to provide police with a description of the victim and suspects, along with the vehicles involved.

Officers were able to immediately locate the black vehicle leaving the scene and initiated a pursuit when they did not pull over for police lights.

Police said the officers followed the vehicle through Windham and Scotland, but were called off when the suspect vehicle began passing cars and driving at unsafe speeds through traffic and school zones.

During the investigation, the victim’s identity was determined and area police were alerted. Police also learned the victim’s white vehicle had left the original scene.

Not long after, police said the victim and their vehicle were located safe at another gas station in Willimantic. Police said she admitted to being involved, but then became uncooperative and left the scene.

No arrests have been made as of Wednesday evening. However, the male suspects have been identified and future charges are expected.

Police said the incident was isolated and the people involved knew each other.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Willimantic Police Department at 860-465-3135.
