    Driver has traumatic injuries after crashing in Manchester

    MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — An 86-year-old driver was rushed to a trauma center after his car crashed into a tree and caught on fire in Manchester.

    Saturday evening at 6:48, the Manchester resident was driving down West Center St. when he veered off the road toward South Adams St.

    The driver struck a tree on a grassy area near Assumption Church before his vehicle erupted into flames.

    The driver has life-threatening injuries and is being treated at a trauma center.

    The Manchester Police Department is investigating this crash and anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to call Officer Nicholas Sinopoli at 860-533-8620.
