    3 injured in 2 separate New Haven shootings

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police are investigating two reported shootings that left at least three people with non-fatal injuries this week.

    The first incident was Monday, Sept. 2. Officers were dispatched to the area of Exchange Street and Poplar Street for a ShotSpotter activation around 5:30 p.m.

    They located a crime scene in the area of Grand Avenue and Blatchley Avenue and soon after, a walk-in shooting victim was reported at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

    The 20-year-old gunshot victim and New Haven resident got to the hospital by private vehicle. His injuries were considered non-life threatening.

    Just before 3 a.m. Tuesday, officers were also dispatched to the area of Sherman Avenue by Whalley Avenue for a ShotSpotter activation and multiple calls reporting shots fired and people screaming.

    Upon arrival, officers found ballistic evidence and blood in the street. During the investigation, they were alerted to two gunshot wound victims who arrived as walk-ins to Saint Raphael Hospital.

    The 26-year-old female and 21-year-old male, both of New Haven, suffered non-life threatening injuries to their feet.
