BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — The City of Bridgeport is implementing bus stop arm cameras on all of their school buses.

    Serial burglar arrested in Bridgeport

Over six months, the city captured nearly 10,000 instances of cars illegally passing stopped school buses, according to a release by the mayor’s office.

“These are very important elements into what hopefully will be preventative and punitive if someone illegally passes a school bus,” Mayor Joe Ganim said at a press conference on Thursday, “We want to ensure that every student in this City and their parents feel safe as they leave their home and on the bus.”

The cameras will capture footage of cars passing buses and issue citations accordingly.
