More than 200 grams of fentanyl seized during Norwich arrest

NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — Norwich police say more than 200 grams of fentanyl and 20 grams of crack cocaine were seized during the arrest of two suspects recently.

The charges come after members of the State Police Violent Crime Task Force East Office and the Norwich Police Department Detective Division conducted surveillance of a residence on Geer Avenue following multiple complaints of narcotic activity in the city.

During their undercover surveillance, officers reported seeing a “narcotic related activity” and stopped a vehicle involved. A narcotics canine alerted police to the presence of drugs.

Law enforcement said they seized 23.2 grams of crack cocaine, 211 grams of fentanyl, and a significant amount of cash from the vehicle.

As a result, 45-year-old Bennie Gray of Norwich was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and two counts of possession of narcotics.

Heather Poplasky, 36, also of Norwich, was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
