MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Milford woman lied about returning fire after someone shot into her apartment, according to police.

Laura Nunez, 43, allegedly called police in July to say she heard noises, thought someone was trying to kick in her door, and fired a rifle through her back door after someone else shot into her apartment.

However, officers said 45-year-old Miguel Torres fired the rifle from inside the apartment, and that no one outside shot in. Torres is a convicted felon, and there was also a minor inside the home at the time.

Police seized guns, magazines and ammunition from the apartment. Nunez and Torres were arrested on Wednesday.

Nunez has been charged with making a false statement, interfering with an officer and two counts of possession of a large capacity magazine. Torres has been charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and risk of injury to a minor.
