    USDA to help Connecticut farmers impacted by floods

    OXFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Farmers impacted by last month’s devastating flash floods will be able to get help from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, according to an announcement on Friday.

    Connecticut farmers meet with state leaders to discuss flood damage

    Farmers can qualify for technical and financial disaster assistance.

    Livestock producers may qualify for the Livestock Indemnity Program by providing documentation of animal deaths or injured livestock that were sold at a reduced price. The deadline to apply is March 3, 2025.

    Help is also available through the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish program (deadline of Jan. 30, 2025), Tree Assistance Program, Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (deadlines for both is within 90 days of the floods). Low-interest farm loans are also available.

    To get help, contact the local USDA Service Center to report losses.
