Waterbury selling school site to housing developer

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Waterbury plans to sell the site of the former St. Mary’s Elementary School complex to a developer that will turn it into housing for people who work in health care, according to the city.

The city bought the land, located on Cole and East Main streets, last year with the intention to redevelop it. The 2.21-acre spot includes five buildings and parking areas.

The city estimates it can become 90 housing units.

It’s currently looking for a buyer. Proposals are due by Oct. 2.
