WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – Hundreds of bikers rode up to the Westport Town Line Sunday morning for the 23rd Annual Connecticut United Ride.

More than a thousand people came out to support first responders and their families affected by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. They rode from Sherwood Island State Park in Westport up to Danbury.

The bikers received an escort from State Police and the ride closed all northbound traffic on Danbury Road for 45 minutes.

The United Ride is Connecticut’s largest annual 9/11 tribute and the largest motorcycle ride in the state.
