WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – State police say an erratic driver died after causing multiple collisions on the highway Sunday afternoon.

Police say 42-year-old Jonathan Peter Garcia of Wallingford was driving a 2023 Cadillac Escalade going southbound on South Turnpike Road when his vehicle crossed into opposing traffic while negotiating a curve in the road.

A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the opposite lane was struck by the Cadillac in an offset head-on collision, causing serious injuries to the driver and a passenger in the Chevrolet.

Garcia sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Wallingford police closed South Turnpike Road between Mansion Road and the Redwood Flea Market at 4:30 p.m. to investigate the crash.

State police told News 8 the Garcia was first reported to be driving recklessly on I-95, then on Route 15 and into Wallingford. The driver collided with multiple other vehicles during their ride.

There's not much of a curve on S. TPK. He had to be drunk as heck, whacked on some drug like Fentanyl, or having some medical episode like Diabetic coma. His blood results should tell the tail.
