    State police identify man, woman killed in crash and car fire on I-95 in Groton

    GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) — The two victims in a fatal collision and car fire on Interstate 95 Friday were identified by state police Tuesday.

    Police said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner helped identify the victims as 36-year-old Timothy I. Montague and 34-year-old Lori Lynn Botero, both of New London.

    Montague was identified as the driver.

    Police said the investigation is still active into the Sept. 13 crash, which happened around 9:20 p.m. as the couple were attempting to take Exit 87.

    According to police, the 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 ran off the left side of the exit ramp and collided with a guardrail and tree. It proceeded to erupt into flames.

    Montague and Botero were pronounced deceased on scene.

    State police are asking anyone with information to contact Trooper Timothy Wengloski at 860-848-6500, extension 5.
