OXFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Brookside Inn Restaurant plans to reopen Wednesday, exactly one month after deadly flash flooding prompted a dramatic rescue of more than a dozen people and a dog from their building.
As part of the reopening, the restaurant is offering half-priced bottles for “Wine Wednesday.”
On Aug. 18, firefighters rescued 19 people and a dog who were trapped in the restaurant by floodwaters caused by flash flooding in the region.
Beacon Hose Co. 1 firefighters used a ladder truck to reach a nearby home by extending its ladder over 86 feet, rescuing a woman and her dog from their second-story apartment.
Next, firefighters extended the ladder 107 feet to a patio area at the restaurant, where they searched the building and found 18 people trapped.
