    13-year-old charged with threatening Waterbury schools

    WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A 13-year-old believed responsible for several school media posts threatening local schools has been arrested, according to Waterbury police.

    Police said they received information about the posts around 11:23 p.m. Monday.

    Upon investigation, police identified a 13-year-old male. He was charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening.

    The threats were deemed no credible.

    Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo urged people to continue reporting suspicious activity or threats to police right away.

    “All threats against our schools are taken extremely seriously, and a thorough investigation is conducted to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community,” Spagnolo said in a statement. “The safety of our community is our top priority, and we will hold those responsible accountable for their actions.”
