New plan for downtown West Hartford includes ‘flexible’ public spaces, keeps ‘charm’

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — West Hartford plans to widen sidewalks, add landscaping and allow street closures for special events as part of a downtown revitalization plan.

The plan, unveiled on Tuesday, aims to enhance pedestrian safety, make it easier to ride bicycles downtown, preserve “neighborhood charm” and add “flexible” public space by closing roads for events. It also aims to connect the downtown to Blue Back Square.
