SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman was bitten by a coyote on Tuesday at a trail in Southington, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

The incident happened on Metacomet Trail. DEEP said that coyotes rarely display aggression towards humans, and that this is a highly unusual occurence.

DEEP, as well as the Connecticut Forest and Park Association are continuing to manage the situation.
