PLYMOUTH, Conn. (WTNH) — The Plymouth Volunteer Ambulance Corps spent Thursday teaching the community how they could save a life.

The ambulance corps, along with local partners, handed out Narcan kits, provided suicide prevention information and conducted CPR demonstrations as part of Save a Life Day.

The event, held at the ambulance base in Terryville, raised awareness about substance abuse prevention and treatment.

“People are starting to recognize that this is a national, worldwide opioid epidemic and people — we have to come together and support individuals struggling with addiction if this is going to get any better,” said Toni Sterling, the community outreach and recovery navigator for Greenwoods Counseling and Referrals.
