Freebie Friday: Fairs and festivals with free admission

We are heading into a fun weekend for fairs and festivals. We are stretching your dollar with a few activities that offer free admission.

The Brooksvale festival at Brooksvale Park in Hamden is on Saturday. Its happening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be music, food, police K-9s, a bake sale and a bunch of other activities.

Celebrate Mansfield is also on Saturday in downtown Storrs from 2p.m. to 8 p.m. Look forward to live music, dance, magic and puppetry.

Bear’s Barbecue in New Haven is inviting you to its “Bark-tober fest,” a chance for your furry friends to come out in costume for some fun. A $2 donation is encouraged to support New England puppy rescue.

It’s also the Waterford Food Truck Festival 2 is happening at the Crystal Mall in Waterford on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. You can expect performances from the the Styff kitty Band, crafts, food vendors, a bounce house, face painting and tattooing.
