NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — North Haven police are searching for multiple suspects accused of striking a police cruiser while fleeing from outside Chick-fil-A, where they were seen wearing ski masks in a car with no license plates Thursday afternoon.

Police said they were dispatched to the area of Chick-fil-A on Universal Drive, where the three males were seen inside a black Volkswagen Atlas with no license plates.

The first officer on scene reported seeing the vehicle run a red light. The vehicle fled from the officer when he tried to pull them over.

The suspect vehicle reportedly struck the officer’s cruiser twice during the pursuit, and drove over traffic islands and into oncoming traffic on Montowese Avenue.

Police said they stopped the pursuit after it continued onto Interstate 91 northbound, where the vehicle “continued to drive recklessly during rush hour traffic” by weaving in and out of lanes.

The vehicle was later determined to be stolen from Guilford and involved in several area armed robberies, according to police.

Police believe they interrupted an impending armed robbery on Universal Drive.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information on the suspects is asked to contact Officer Brennan at x261 or North Haven Detectives at x240. Information can be shared anonymously.
