NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A man was arrested after assaulting someone with a knife last night in New Haven.

Friday night at 10:18, officers with the New Haven Police Department responded to 351 Whalley Ave. where they located 34-year-old Yannick Williams. Williams told officers he was struck in the head with a bottle, and while receiving medical attention, a bloody knife was located inside his socks.

Shortly after, officers were notified of a 27-year-old male stab victim who arrived at Yale New Haven Hospital.

The victim says he, Williams, and others were together when Williams “became disrespectful.” A physical fight began and the victim used a bottle to defend himself, says authorities.

During the altercation, Williams stabbed the victim several times, stole his belongings, and fled the scene.

Williams was charged with assault in the second degree and larceny in the third degree. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

    The victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
