BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A Wethersfield man pleaded guilty Monday to drug charges connected to an overdose death in 2023, according to the office of the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

40-year-old Jimmy Lassus pleaded guilty in Bridgeport to distribution of fentanyl and oxycodone.

The district attorney’s office said court documents and statements made in court revealed Meriden police responded to a residence for a report of a suspected overdose on the morning of Oct. 6, 2023.

On scene, they found a 27-year-old woman unresponsive in a bedroom. She was pronounced deceased after being transported to a hospital.

An investigation showed the victim had several text conversations about drugs in the months before the victim’s death, which revealed Lassus had supplied the victim fentanyl, which she ingested hours before her death.

According to the attorney’s office, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the victim’s death was caused by acute intoxication due to the combined effects of fentanyl, benzodiazepines, xylazine, and oxycodone.

Lassus is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 23. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
