Stretch Your Dollar: Where to find deals heading into the holiday season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — It’s time to turn the page on a new month. As we welcome October and the little ones get excited for Halloween, you can get excited about some new saving opportunities, especially if you’ve been considering a big purchase.

“October is typically a really good time to get a new car because they’re trying to clear last years models off the lot,” said Michael Bonebright from DealNews.com.

From clearing car lots to a switch up in the grocery store, savings are shifting there as well.

“So your typical fall things like apples, broccoli, butternut squash, those are all going to be the fruits and vegetables that you really need to buy,” said Bonebright.

Don’t forget Amazon Prime Day is coming up in mid-October when you’ll start seeing holiday items and toys marked down to kickstart your shopping with retailers like target rolling out competing deals.

If you don’t like the savings you see, you may find better savings on just about everything else in November, around black Friday.
