6-year-old in Bridgeport dies after being attacked

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A 6-year-old who was attacked last week with a baseball bat in Bridgeport has died, according to police.

Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 38, who police said attacked the 6-year-old, their 4-year-old sibling and their mother, has now been charged with murder. His bond is set to $10 million, and he has faced additional charges after allegedly assaulting officers since his arrest.

The 6-year-old had been pronounced braindead after the attack. Their sibling and mother have been released from the hospital.

A police report states that the mother called 911 and said that Sulaiman was hitting them with a bat. He was found near the scene with blood on his hands and arms.

Video footage shows Sulaiman coming out a rear window of an apartment building while holding a baseball bat, according to police documents. He swung the baseball bat around before tossing it into a dumpster.

The mother told police that Sulaiman had previously threatened to kill her and her children, and had sexually assaulted her at gunpoint, according to the documents.

Police have said the attack was a “domestic violence incident.”
