    Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ to hold fundraising event for Helene relief efforts

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ plans to hold a special event next week to raise money for hurricane relief efforts after Helene ravaged the Asheville area.

    In partnership with the World Central Kitchen, Bear’s in Asheville is providing free hot meals on site to the community as they rebuild.

    Now Bear’s owners are planning to collect monetary donations through a special event, with all proceeds going toward World Central Kitchen’s ongoing relief efforts and to support the Bear’s staff at the forefront of meal distribution.

    The fundraiser is scheduled for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, at Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ on James Street in New Haven.

    It will include music, performances, a silent auction, dinner and drinks, organizers said.

    “We’re incredibly grateful for the way our team in Asheville has come together in this challenging time,” Bear’s co-owner Jamie McDonald said in a press release. “Our staff and volunteers, alongside World Central Kitchen, are working tirelessly to ensure no one goes hungry. This fundraiser will help sustain that effort.”

    Tickets are available on the website Eventbrite . Donations can also be made on Bear’s special donation collection Facebook page .

    Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ has four locations in Connecticut and two in North Carolina.
