Connecticut State Police interrupt alleged drug deal at North Canaan gas station

NORTH CANAAN, Conn. (WTNH) — Two men were taken into custody Tuesday after state police said troopers stopped a drug deal at a North Canaan gas station.

Troopers were there for 24-year-old Tobi Wolfe, a Canaan man allegedly involved in drug trafficking who had an extraditable warrant for felony charges in Massachusetts.

Troopers believe that he was involved in a drug transaction with 37-year-old Shaun Watson, of Wassaic, New York. Wolfe allegedly told troopers that he bought drugs from Watson. Watson also gave police the name of a relative, instead of his own.

Inside the truck Watson was in, troopers found 37 separate bags that included a total of 7.9 grams of fentanyl, along with 13.4 grams of crack cocaine, 41 Clonazepam pills, 4.5 Alprazolam pills, eight buprenorphine strips and naloxone strips. Watson said the items were his, according to Connecticut State Police.

Watson has been charged with two counts each of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He is facing one charge each of criminal impersonation and interfering with an officer. He was assigned a $75,000 cash/surety bond for those charges. He also had four arrest warrants for failure to appear in court.

Wolfe was charged with extradition arrest without a warrant and assigned a $500,000 cash/surety bond.
