NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Amazon Prime Day has officially begun and other retailers aren’t sitting back to watch, they’re advertising their savings. We are stretching your dollar with what to look for on Tuesday.

This morning, 48 hours of deals officially started for Amazon Prime members, a two-day Prime Day event. When you think about early holiday shopping, experts said to expect deep discounts, especially on Amazon-owned brands.

“You know, think blink security cameras, fire TV, sticks, kindle. So we’ll be seeing discounts as high as 60% in some cases on those devices,” Smart Shopping Expert Trae Dodge said.

Some sales will last two days while new deals will drop throughout the event.

It’s not just Amazon, Walmart’s holiday deals event starts today too, and goes through Sunday.

Target’s circle week is also underway through Oct. 12 with deals on luggage, bedding, and kitchen items.

Competition is fierce among retailers, so experts remind you to go into the week with a plan.

“Although there are good deals to be had, you need to approach these sales with a list, with a plan. Otherwise, it could create a buying frenzy and you end up overspending, have that holiday gift list in place with a budget per person,” Consumer Sales Expert Andrea Woroch said.
