NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) — Naugatuck police say a Waterbury man is accused of firing a handgun during an argument at Motor Lodge Monday morning.

Police were dispatched to the Naugatuck Motor Lodge on New Haven Road before 9 a.m.

Upon arrival, witnesses told police a man had been involved in an argument with guests before he began firing a weapon from his vehicle and leaving the scene.

No injuries were reported, according to police.

Police said the suspect- 32-year-old Reuben Ortiz- was later located at a residence in Naugatuck and taken into custody without incident after police surrounded the home and ordered him out.

While executing search warrants at the property, detectives said they found a .40 handgun and shell casings. Because Ortiz has an extensive criminal history, he was not permitted to have a firearm.
