CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — Connecticut residents that utilize public transportation in some parts of the state will soon have an easier way to pay.

4 Shore Line East trains added to schedule

The state announced a “tap and ride” pilot program on Tuesday that allows riders on River Valley Transit and Meriden bus lines to pay by tapping a card or using a mobile wallet.

“This is a game changer,” Sen. Matt Lesser (D-Conn) said. “It is so much easier to use public transportation when you don’t have to figure out where is the card, where is my pass, how do I make this work, do I have the right cash.”

The money will come from a $2 million grant from the bipartisan infrastructure law.
