What to know about high-intensity focused ultrasound

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — It’s being dubbed a medical miracle: high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is brain surgery without an incision.

Hartford HealthCare uses this latest technology, which has dramatic results for patients with essential tremors.

Joy Antonelle de Marcaida, MD, with Hartford HealthCare’s Chase Family Movement Disorders Center, explains HIFU and why Hartford HealthCare invested in this technology.
