NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A celebration Friday at a New Haven high school brought together the Latino community to cap off Hispanic Heritage Month.

“We’re Hispanics, so we’re excited for this month, because we just dance, and we’re so happy to do this,” said Jose Quezada, a junior at Wilbur Cross High School.

El Carnaval, celebrated at Wilbur Cross High School, included food, drinks, dancing and exhibitions. It highlighted Puerto Rican, Peruvian, Mexican and Ecuadorian cultures.

“We got all over the place,” said Emilio Reales, a Spanish teacher at the school. “That’s why we celebrate the Hispanic heritage, because it’s a component of all cultures, Latinos in the world.”
