WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A West Haven man was named the city’s “Hispanic of the Year” as Hispanic Heritage Month ends.

Jeffrey Moreno was this year’s honoree. His grandmother was born in Puerto Rico, and he earned the title based on his community commitment and cultural pride.

“When I decided to get involved in the community back in 2017, I really just wanted to do the right thing,” Moreno said. “I really don’t like the attention, but I’ll take the attention today.”

Hispanic Heritage Month wraps up on Tuesday.
