40-year-woman dies after one-car accident on Route 8 in Trumbull

TRUMBULL, Conn. (WTNH) — A 40-year-old woman died after a one-car accident on Friday in Trumbull, according to police.

The victim, Maria Nieves of Bridgeport, was in the passenger seat of the car on Route 8 in Trumbull when the car suddenly veered into the grassy right shoulder and collided with a rock wall, police said. She and the driver, Leonel Diaz, were transported to St. Vincent’s hospital with serious injuries.

Nieves was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The collision is still under investigation.
