HARWINTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A car crash followed by fire killed a man Friday evening in Harwinton, says state police.

The investigation determined that 52-year-old Harwinton resident Scott White was driving South in the area of Hill Rd. and Rt. 222, when his vehicle went into the westbound shoulder.

White’s car struck a wooden post, wire rope and guardrail, before hitting a sign and farm stand. The vehicle then collided with a tree and came to an uncontrolled stop at 325 Hill Rd.

4 lanes closed on I-84 in Hartford due to rollover crash

Officials say after the crash, White’s vehicle became engulfed in flames, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call State Trooper Kenney at 860-626-7900 extension 5202 or email him at Gregory.Kenney@ct.gov .
