The town of Old Saybrook had a good reason to throw a block party on Saturday. The fire department celebrated its 100th anniversary.

There were plenty of activities for all ages such as a bounce house, a dunk tank, lots of games, and of course a ton of food.

“We are a very active fire department. All volunteer, which is something to say these days,” Old Saybrook Fire Department Secretary Tony Cronin said. “It’s tough getting volunteers. We’ve been very good at getting volunteers that we have. We have a one-hundred-year history, well over three or four hundred people have been members of our department. We continue to go strong as a volunteer fire department. I’m very proud of that.”

The fire department also made sure to have fire prevention tips for all those who came out.
