DERBY, Conn. (WTNH) — A man became pinned underneath a vehicle while conducting mechanical work Saturday evening in Derby.

At around 5:30 p.m., police officers were called to 156 Smith St. for a 54-year-old man who was pinned by the front left wheel of a 2003 Hummer.

At the scene, neighbors and family members were attempting to push the vehicle off of the trapped man, and with the help of responding officers, the Hummer was successfully moved.

After being pulled from underneath the vehicle, the man displayed respiratory distress, which prompted medical aid from emergency personnel. The man was then taken to a hospital for further treatment and police say he is expected to recover.
