Route 34 fully reopens after deadly flood damaged parts of the road

OXFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Nearly two months after deadly flash floods destroyed the Oxford area, Governor Ned Lamont says Route 34 has fully reopened to traffic.
In a social media post Wednesday, Lamont said Route 34 by Loughlin Road is now fully reopened.
The work was completed by the Department of Transportation and other partners about two weeks ahead of schedule, he said.
“It was a big task. Just look at these before and after photos. Thanks to the crews for their work!” Lamont said.
The road was significantly damaged in multiple areas by historic flash flooding on Aug. 18. The flooding swept away homes and cars and left two women dead .
