    Duo accused of stealing thousands of dollars in alcohol from West Hartford liquor store

    WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Two men accused of breaking into a West Hartford liquor store in August have been taken into custody, according to an announcement from police on Thursday.

    Steven Peralez-Gonzales, 21, and 24-year-old Josue Leon-Ortiz, both from Hartford, shattered the front door of Cheers Wine and Spirits and stolen thousands of dollars in alcohol, according to police.

    Hartford officers found the vehicle involved, which had unopened bottles of high-end liquor inside.

    Peralez-Gonzales has been charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit second-degree mischief, third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. He has been released on a $15,000 surety bond.

    Leon-Ortiz has been charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit second-degree mischief, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and with possession of burglar tools. He has been released on a $15,000 surety bond.
