WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Students at James H. Moran Middle School in Wallingford raised $30,000 to go back into the school — and make their principal kiss a celebrity pig.

“A lot of the money goes right back to the students — incorporating field trips, bring in guest speakers and do a lot of activities to make the school as welcoming as possible,” Principal Joe Piacentini said.

The agreement was that he’d kiss a piglet named Zola if a certain fundraising goal was met.

Students also wore pink to support breast cancer awareness.

“It’s really important, because there was a time in history where people didn’t talk about women’s cancers,” said Rachel Greenup, the chief of breast surgery at the Yale Smilow Breast Center. “To be proactive in early detection, we need girls and young adults to be proactive about knowing their bodies.”
