    Arrest made after gun shot from car window in Meriden

    MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Meriden police say a man was arrested Sunday after passengers in the car he was driving were reportedly shooting a firearm out the window and into the air.

    Luis Valdez-Imbaquingo faces various weapons and driving offenses, including carrying a firearm while under the influence of drugs/alcohol and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

    He was charged after a caller reported seeing a white Ford Explorer with four people inside stop on Camp Street before pointing a pistol out the window and sending a round into the air.

    The incident happened around 5:20 a.m. on Sunday.

    Officers stopped the vehicle soon after, and the driver and vehicle owner was detained with some of the other occupants.

    DUI arrest made after wrong-way crash in E. Hartford

    During a search of the vehicle, they reported finding a handgun under the front seat. Police said Valdez-Imbquingo was determined responsible for the firearm.

    Valdez-Imbaquingo was given a $250,000 surety bond and is expected to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 8.
