MADISON, Conn. (WTNH) — The town of Madison held a ribbon cutting on Monday for “Wellington at Madison,” a new affordable housing complex.

The 27 newly-constructed one and two-bedroom apartments were developed by Hope Partnership and the Caleb Group, using funding from the federal low-income housing tax credits.

Organizers said that the homes will not only benefit people looking for more affordable housing, but it will also help those who are looking to live in the community where they work.

“If you look at the cost of housing nationally where it’s about $460,000 for a single-family home, we’ve got to get going as a country to expand supply,” U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney (D-Conn) said.

The Wellington offers 14 one-bedroom units and 13 two-bedroom units.
