    Popular Snack Recalled In North Carolina Due To Potential 'Mold Pieces'

    A popular snack sold in stores around North Carolina has been recalled due the potential for containing "mold pieces."

    Authentik Fudge of Sainte-Julie is recalling 840 unites of its MONTREAL FUDGE brand chocolate fudge with nuts "due to potential mold contamination," according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration . The product was distributed on June 19 and 20 of this year and sold in TJ MAXX and Marshalls stores around the country .

    The only products included in the recall are those with a lot number of 0241500805 and 2025/MR/01 expiration date, a lot number of 0241690105 and 2025/MR/17 expiration date, and lot number of 0241690205 and 2025/MR/17 expiration date.

    The affected products were sold in TJ MAXX locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Washington and Wyoming as well as in Marshalls locations in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Wyoming.

    The recall was launched after consumer complaints of "some mold pieces inside the purchased box" led to the discovery of the "beginning signs of mold" in some unpacked and sealed product at the manufactured place, the recall notice states. As of August 22, there have been no reports of illnesses in connection to the recall.

    Anyone who has purchased the items is encourage to either throw them out or return to the place of purchase for a refund. For more information and to see product photos, visit fda.gov .
